Have Internet brands destroyed Scoobynet?
Since Internet Brands took over Scoobynet i think there's been a steady decline. STU keeps saying its happening everywhere and its just the way things have gone, but i believe this fourm would have still had a large active user base. But IB have speed up the decline, and just given up on this forum.
Issues
1/ Members having issues with memberships and accounts but getting no reply off administrators, causing members to give up and not use the forum, seen many of those threads.
2/ Not being competitive with competition, eg Facebook, Free to sell, this then encourages users to sell on social media platforms rather than pay to post on here to a smaller audience, while they are there then they use the platform to converse with other owners and Scoobynet is then obsolete.
3/ Charging traders/breakers to sell on the forum, MattyRB has been on here for years, and Darren. Both have moved all there sales to free social media platforms, i bet if this site had been free to list for Traders and Private sellers, then these sellers would have stayed. Matty stuck it out the longest.
4/ No input from lack of interest from IB, you use to be able to get goodie bags with memberships i believe, barely an admin in site, lose of the Scoobynet app. etc
Of course forums are being used alot less nowadays, but still feel this site is well surported.

I dont know what it was like here in the past, but in my just under a year of scooby ownership and visiting here, its always been fairly decent for a car owners forum (i.e getting replies off people to any threads posted, new threads appearing fairly regular). It's a lot better and more active than other's i've visted, hence why I stuck with this site for my 'scooby owners forum' needs
I cant comment on the social media side of things, as I stay well clear of facebook etc as it's no good for my mental health.

It was insanely better back in the day. New threads popping up every 5 mins. Just lack of investment from owners. Like why do me need around 60 sections to post in, some haven't been posted in for years. Still making plenty of money off us all.

I'm really new here and have seen this across many Forums, where are the car communities? These people haven't dissappeared. Where are people talking about cars? I'm just trying to find a group of car enthusiasts to occasionally go out for a drive with and talk rubbish about cars. No where that I can find.

Quite a few still visit the site but many don't post.
Guess there is more on places like facebook now, although I'm not on facebook, and loads i know aren't. maybe insterface.
I think this site could still be saved, it was one of the most popular around hence why Internet bands bought it, but like most big companies they don't care about the site and just run it into the ground.

It appears that FB is popular but I barely use it so I'm not so sure. I think forums like this one as soon as they charge for usage it kills it off. The subscrition model just doesn't work. But I'm no marketing guru.

The help and advice from those in the know was priceless and NSR was always entertaining. Ghost town today. I'd also like to add what is currently being allowed to happen in NSR regarding Ukraine discussion is a joke.
Car or manufacturer specific forums have died since FB groups etc. Although it's much harder to get decent advice these days.
Others forums have faired rather better. I'm on Overclockers most days having a nose which has many genre to choose from and well governed.

Fb is really hard to find info, none of the info on there comes up on Google, it's easy to find threads and post on loads of information on Scoobynet.
Had this discussion with one of the moderators and admins in think there called about free to sell etc on here.
And the Admin said it was up to the moderators, and he said no lol.
With fb anyone can go on there chat and sell for free. If your selling and buying on there, your less likely to come back on here.

I find it a bit odd, where you have a dedicated forum for a specific make of vehicle and all the info you need can be found on it, that people nowadays would rather go on a website like fb that is full of shyte like what people have had for breakfast and when they have been for a turn out rather than keep sites like this popular.
. . . but I must be in a minority.

Not sure tbh. I’m not on fb/ twitter / insta / etc etc but I always come here if I need to find something out or want advice. It’s a good place to learn and talk to like minded folk. It’s done me well over the years.

I think it's a combination of both, on facebook you have so many groups for Subaru's, modifying Subaru's, selling Subaru's, selling Subaru parts and so on etc etc, and it's all free. Also on facebook the replies are fairly instant, on here which is no fault of the eople who are registered the replies can take a while, sometimes days as people don't visit Scoobynet as often as they used too, for me it's just a passing glance these days, i guess that's the same for a lot of people where as in the past it used to be a very active place with a lot posts being made. Unfortunately social media places like Facebook, Instagram and twitter are where most people spend their time, other forums i've used in the past which are none car have gone a similar way with a lot lower numbers than they used to have in the past, i guess it's the way of the times.

Internet forums are old hat nowadays and effectively dead for this type of community in my opinion.
There’s been a substantial shift to how we consume and interact on the net.
It’s a shame and I miss the thread discussion approach in a format that is easy to search for info etc.
It is what it is though.
I blame the guys who sold it to IB! 👀🤣
