Front brake recommendations ? (Classic)
I've a 00MY Classic which I've had for 9 years and the brakes have finally started juddering. I had the calipers refurbed by Godspeed when I bought it, plus their standard grooved disc and harder pad kit.
The discs 'look' ok but I seem to remember from my time back in the day with Imprez a and Legacy turbos that having the discs skimmed is a bit of a waste of time, as the vibration comes back?
Any recommendations ? Car is still a fair weather, weekend toy.🙂

I had DS2500 on my classic and then Mintex 1166. The Mintex were cheaper and way better than the Ferodos. Slightly more dust, but no big deal to be honest. I was not impressed with the DS2500 to be honest for the price. They were very slightly better from cold but faded much quicker.
I had them on EBC slotted discs. My car had 325 bhp and was on the standard callipers and had no problems stopping.
EBC have revamped their range so may be worth the trying a set of their discs and pads (yellow). You might even get the pads for free as they have been posting on here “braking news” and some members have been lucky enough to get a set of pads free to try/review!!

I too had my calipers refurbed by Godspeed with SS pistons etc. new discs and pads and to be honest, the brakes were still pants!
eventually went for the Brembo kit offered by Godspeed and it's like night and day difference in brakes effectiveness ! you will NOT be disappointed.
you do need 17's though and I was due new tyres and ended up with refurbed STI wheels fitted with Pilot sport 4's for a very reasonable price. needed to get wheels re balanced with weights in the middle as there is very little clearance.

not sure I would recommend the high cost of genuine replacement parts as Brembo HC or the likes of Pagid OEM discs are more cost effective and 'better' quality, if you want the "best" in that form then the DBA T2 is probably the best bang for buck.......
the main thing that people miss with Subaru braking in general is the minimal servo assistance that is common on more European type vehicles where you touch the pedal and then hit the windscreen.....with these cars though it then doesn't matter if you put 10ton on the pedal the "stop" doesn't increase.........
Subaru (albeit it improved on later new-age, etc) use a much lower servo assistance which means you can actually feel the brakes working and use more / less pressure to get the desired response - this does mean you normally use more effort initially
