Overheating JDM STI
Well lads issue as above. Car was in the way at the weekend so started up and moved it after letting sit for idle about 10mins needle was nearly at red. let cool down and checked header tank which was low so topped it up, started again seemed fine went for short drive, all good. Returned home let sit for 5 mins noticed fans where not kicking in then it started to rise in temp.
before this I recently changed iacv and cleaned throttle body to which I had to remove the pipe from front mount attached to throttle body. Would air got into the rad? I did check rad and no visible coolant until I removed cap from header tank. I did however check oil for any milkshake. I’m at my wits end, any help appreciated

Well done for finding out what it was.
In any weather in traffic I always switch on the A/C, it runs a separate fan in short blasts (Hawkeye STI) and I can only but think it helps with under bonnet temps / reducing heat soak of the TMIC.
The EJ cooling system is weird, and I've never been able to quite get my head around it.
On another note, look at how the oil filter is surrounded in what I see as a cage of exhaust manifold death, yes I know it has water cooled modines, but even so!
