Default Centre diff issues solved

So had some drive train issues on my 55 plate Fsti , so drinking straight forward it was fine , when the box was cold it was fine , after a decent drive and everything properly warmed up , i was getting a locking feeling on tighter turns going forward or backwards and clunking , im thinking front diff or centre diff failing or driveshaft issues , or a fluid issue , so swapped the driveshaft and box fluid a slight minimal improvement , but issue still there , at this point hoping it’s centre diff not front diff ,Megazip order made 435£ delivered plus import duty another 105£ , Hughberry vehicles in Rickmansworth given a call , booked in a few days later , it’s not an impossible job to do but really needs a car ramp , mid section of exhaust removed , prop removed , gear selector links undone , box bolts undone , a bit of tapping on the tail end of the gearbox and it came off , remove it carefully as a few bits can come out and there are two split bearings on a shaft , the centre diff is an easy pull it out job , new centre diff pushed back in , the two sets of bearings stuck to the shaft using grease , then all put back together , fresh fluid change done , the car runs a lot better now as the centre diff going was impacting the smoothness of the whole box , a big thumbs up to the garage they were very good and cheap , how do you know centre diffs failing , often when cold no clunk or binding when it’s hot then you get the clunk binding drive issues , most common cause mismatched tyres 👍😁

Wow, glad you got to the bottom of it, what's the mileage this happened?
Is the centre diff part number the same as an Impreza and which MY Impreza if so?

Cheers for that Don , around 90k miles , jdm import , im going to go with mismatched tyres from previous owners , im sure covered by Don , the 5 speed and 6 speed use a different central diff , 5 speed is a more common failure than 6 speed 👍
