Thoughts/experience with these 👍
Morning all
I’ve bought most supporting mods now to get my car to the 450bhp Mark...next will be injectors and turbo choice so was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these:
FASTLINE TURBOS (I know this one in the link is a twinscroll, I’m just giving you an idea of what I’m after, he can make the same but in single scroll)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174525036...YAAOSwBGJfthqH
TURBO DYNAMICS
https://www.turbodynamics.co.uk/shop...hp-p-4202.html
I’m leaning towards the turbo dynamics one for some reason but any advice is much appreciated.

I went down this rabbit hole about a year ago, but on a quest for 400bhp. AET Turbos provided a very competitive quote: "We can offer an AET GT297153R (our part number is VT276B) which is a Hybrid Ball Bearing conversion with Billet compressor wheel which is good for 430hp, these are £1295 + vat, approx.. 1 week to build from order and payment, delivery to UK Mainland is £11 + vat" Lee.Padgett@AET-Turbos.co.uk
I also looked at importing one from the USA which worked out a bit cheaper once you allow for the import duty and shipping, etc, but there is the potential for any issues with any returns. In the end, I had someone convert my vf48 housing to include a larger compressor wheel on a ball bearing rather than the standard journal bearing. I've not had my car on a rolling road but it shouldn't be far off 400bhp. It's a forged 2.5ltr 2006 wrx wagon.

AET provided me with a hybrid GTX3071 that made 450bhp at 1.55 bar and 470bhp at 1.75 bar on my 2.1 motor, spooled up lovely even with a massive APS front mount. Price with around £1600 all in iirc.

Just a question for the people in the know....
theres 3 turbo companies that’s been mentioned here so il add scoobyclinic...
AET
FAST LINE
TURBO DYNAMICS
SCOOBYCLINIC
How many differences can there be between all of these companies 450 bhp turbos? If these turbos were tested on the exact same set up then would the differences be minimal? I’m just after a 450bhp turbo which will spool the quickest.

Btw I’m not expecting the turbo to spool like my current vf35 standard turbo BUT these turbo companies are telling me it will due to new designs or whatever.

I know with the 450bhp turbo I get there will be a certain amount of lag which I’m happy with. I’m not clued up on turbos but would rather the turbo I buy is built to accommodate spool instead of top end etc....

My spec c has 100bhp less than my mates single scroll UK blob running 450 but in the real world he only just keeps up with me round the country lanes. It’s all about torque and the twin scroll has it much lower down.

My V1 import was rapid and felt fast, but most of the power after 3,000 rpm, before that there was nothing.
Then you would fly back in your seat and the car would just keep pulling. As long as you kept the right gear and rev's up, it was rapid. I guess depends what you call rapid. Unfortunately back then i wasn't as clued up as now, so wasn't sure what turbo it was running etc, but had to be over 300 bhp. And car was pretty standard when i bought it, just alloys and back box.
My mate bought a V1 SA and i advised him to get the TD05 upgrade as i'm sure that's what mine had. Had it done with 440 injectors and uprated pump and 3 port boost solenoid. Full new exhaust. Had it mapped, even though it was fast, the power was very linear, and no where near as exciting as mine was. Not sure if that was down to how it was mapped or what.

I guess it depends on if you want to feel like you’re driving fast or actually drive fast.

early cars regardless of mods are limited by small 380cc injectors and map sensor to around 300bhp MAX.........
why build a 'fast car' that takes 3years to come onto boost??
Mrs.Miggins in her little ecoboost dross mobile has just murdered you to 37mph off the last roundabout where she will sit in your way for the next 10miles!!

My mates car was over 300bhp. Had 440 injectors. Had ESL board on.
No clue what mine had, all I know it was fast and fun. Lad who bought it came with his mate who had one, and he said it was loads faster than his.
Sure it would of been an awful car to drive in a city with stop starting and lag. But never had any issues with any eco boosts, as there weren't any around back then lol
It was embarrassing sometimes, as I'd forget which Impreza I was in, and pull out to only have no power and a car bearing down on me. All worth it once turbo kicked in though

As said didn't know nothing about Subaru's then so have no clue if standard engine wise. 280 standard BHP I believe. The cat went and I fitted a decat from memory, so went even faster lol
