Default Subaru Impreza WRX STI PPP - how many?

Question: Does anyone know how many Impreza WRX STI’s came with the Prodrive Performance Pack fitted from the factory? Either as a number or percentage of STI Type-UK sold? I’ve had a look across the net and can’t find any info on it. Just wondered if anyone knew. Don’t know if it’s 10% or 90%!

TIA for any info 👍🏻

I think the PPP was 'dealer fit' only rather than a 'factory' option ?

It was probably a factory option at the point of ordering the car, but the dealers fitted it on PDi, or whenever a customer requested it afterwards.

Back in the day, the dealers would've had plenty of PPP items in stock I suspect.

I reckon if PPP wasn't required at point of order, salesmen would've offered it again when they contacted the customer to say the car has arrived in the UK / at the dealer.

It was a similar set up if you ordered a Mini Cooper S and wanted the John Cooper Works. I worked for a BMW dealer back in 2004 (absolutely hated it) and they had tons of superchargers etc waiting to be fitted.

It was fitted after the vehicle had been registered in the UK.

That’s why the V5 doesn’t register whether it was a PPP or not then and why you can’t find any details on the internet. Sort of makes sense.

So the answer appears to be that nobody knows. Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated 👍🏻

That explains why the PPP doesn’t show on the V5 and therefore there’s no way of finding out. What’s ppl’s views - do you think most would have had it fitted? It was only around £2k option as I recall so expect quite a few had it fitted but when looking at the classifieds it only appears to be the occasional one with it fitted.

PPP fitted cars received a certificate with the original registration and VIN number on it. This was usually stapled to the service book. That's the only proof I would accept. All the other kit (CAT, Backbox, fuel pump) are likely to have been replaced.

You could enquire with Subaru UK as the fitting will be on record (ECU's were originally returned to Subaru UK for map update)

Mine has that sticker with the certificate still (not on the car) - love the way it advises that you inform your insurance company 🤣
