Cat 1 / Impreza s204 immobiliser
Hi peeps just got my hands on a s204 it has no alarm but factory central locking and immobiliser
Been told I need a cat 1 and tracker I知 just wondering how I go about this if it already
had a immobiliser fitted.
the tracker will be easy enough but I知 wondering if the stock immobiliser can
be paired with a decent alarm sytem or what the best way to go about this is
any help would be great
thanks in advance, CSF

As with UK subarus the OEM immobiliser is key transponder deactivated via the OEM security module and ECU and is most likely Thatcham Cat2.
Subaru UK's addition of a Sigma alarm took the protection level to Thatcham Cat1.
The latest Sigma model used for "key ignition" Subarus (as against smart access models) is the Sigma S32 taking the overall system rating from Cat2 to Cat1.
In this setup the alarm is wired to activate the central locking.
The only thing you won't have are the UK fitted Double Locking door locks.
Any other brand of Cat2 > Cat1 alarm will probably suffice.

i had the same issue on my imported fsti , i think the subaru standard immobiliser was not up to cat 2 level ? as it does not cut the engine straight away , the proof of this was one fsti has the standard subaru immobiliser and for insurance and it needed a cat 2 immobiliser fitted to keep the insurance happy , the two previous fsti both standard subaru immobiliser that i left in place on all three cars and then fitted the key pad sigma alarms so they are now cat 1 , they all have trackers fitted , the key pad fits nicely into the little openable storage cubby hole where the fuses are by the drivers knee , a cat 1 alarm is not that much 」 when it痴 your pride and joy 👍

the std JDM immobiliser of that age is basically a "chip" key...........this pairs with the ECU and hence is less likely to be bypassed than pretty much any aftermarket item unless you re-coded keys, etc......
