Default Wiring loom

Evening all

Any one happen too know if there's any difference in the engine bay wiring loom between a UK bugeye and a jdm bugeye.
I'm trying to figure out why I'm only getting some power on the inside of the car. I'm getting power too the interior lights and the electric mirrors but nothing else for some reason.

The engine bay has three main looms
Front Wiring Harness

Engine harness

Bulkhead loom (in engine bay)

The two circuits you mention are supplied from the fuse box by the drivers right knee, which from previous threads the wiring in that area looked pretty messed up.

Have you checked all the slow blow fuses in the main fuse box in the engine bay as at least 4 of them supply various circuits in the fuse box.
Have you checked you have power to the actual fuse holders in the fuse box?? and are the fuses good??

You should already have copies of the wiring diagrams for the UK MY01 Impreza
Here are the RHD variations for the MY02 STI (bearing in mind the JDM model has a BIU in the electrical system)

Don as the font of all knowledge 😁 knows best , adding to that my jdm bugeye wagon and my Jdm Fsti , the loom was different on both cars v a uk spec car , as we found out doing a cat 1 alarm , plus even with an o4 fsti jdm v a new shape fsti there were some less significant loom differences

Cheers Don
that's much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure they have different connections as the loom I've got was from a UK car but only seems too have one connector on the whole loom that links to the engine bay loom so just looking to see if there was a separate loom for jdm spec cars. Hate the wiring side of cars if I'm honest. I'll double check all the fuses later tonight after work tho

The UK MY01 Impreza Turbo (WRX) and MY02 STI "engine" looms have three connectors to the Bulkhead and Front harnesses (1 on the right side and 2 on the left) (E1,2 and 3 on engine and transmission harnesses image)
Anyway none of that would effect power to other circuits/systems within the cabin or lights.
The battery has a direct feed to the main fuse board into which the Bulkhead Harness (in engine room) plugs in.

Tested the fuse box tonight and it seems most of the fuse box by the drivers right knee is getting power apart from a few fuses. Fuses all seem to be intact but directly behind the fuses in question, there's no plug going into the back of them.

From the manuals, UK loom has 3 plugs into the back fuse box 12pole white/clear; 10pole grey; 9pole brown, and the 2 plugs in the front.

Have you sorted out your ignition switch wiring as that could be part of the problem??

I think that's going too be my next task to get the wiring back to how it should have been. Soon as you connect the battery there's a beep inside and it just carries on.

Beep is probably from the BIU - door open or something similar.

They are the standard test connectors even with OBDII (B75/76 MY02 UK STI wiring diags)
Looks like the group that also includes
Data Link connector
Check connector
Diagnosis connector
Line End Check connector

Probably a couple of single pin connectors there as well.

So managed too get ignition wiring reconnected and we have a few more electrics added too the party now. We have working windows, fans, mirrors and interior lights but no dash lights. Decided too look further back and under the carpet I'm presented with this

So going with this and the fact the engine bay has a load of cut wires I suspect the easiest and most reliable option is going too be a new loom for the bugeye. Spoke to a electrician n he said the time it would take too rewire this, it would be the same time to just chuck a new loom in that's un cut as this one he suggested has had an aftermarket alarm added in its life or a piggy back ecu.

Happy Saturday folks

i had the same issue on a jdm car i bought , i ended up by soldering all the wires in the end , no issue since , the previous owner in japan had every gadget under the sun in his car , just took it off bit by bit , took me about few days , ended up with a 3/4 full bin bag of wiring , and quite a lot of soldering , the most worrying part was the soldering around the ecu but i was systematic and took my time and it worked 👍

Wiring sadly ain't my strong point when it comes too cars so think I'll stick to just getting a new loom, ecu, lock set and redo it all. Least that way I'll know for sure then that there won't be no discrepancies on the wiring. As the top gear trio would say "how hard can it be"

Well decided to get the subaru back home as been on holiday for 2 weeks so as I've been given tomorrow off, I'm gonna have a crack at it and tidy up some loose jobs on the car like fitting the blob eye rear bumper, fitting the exhaust. Decided to buy a whole new wiring loom for the car as there's quite a few cut wires on the existing one so seems like the easiest way. Done some research on how to do a rewire so hopefully won't take me too long too do this weekend.

Found out why one electric mirror on the driver side wasn't working. It's the wrong mirror and wrong loom so that's another job to be replaced
