Default Super Unleaded Assistance

Afternoon all,

Yesterday I picked up a Legacy Tuned by STI (pictures to follow etc). The car was imported in 2018 and has only been ran on VPower since then. This one runs the 2ltr EJ20X engine.

On the way up the road from England to Glasgow it was fueled using VPower.

Today I've drove from Glasgow to Skye and like an idiot, forgot to check where I can fill up. Turns out, not many places.... I also did not consider bringing Octane Booster - again, idiot.

So I need some advise. There is a filling station near me in Broadford that sells Super Unleaded 97, am I able to put enough in my tank to do me until I get to somewhere that sells Super Unleaded 99? Will it cause any damage? Thanks in advance.

not much else you can do but would certainly drive with some caution..........

for your info I would advise you get the map checked regardless as they are known to suffer Det on the std JDM maps regardless of fuel quality.....

Thanks mate, might just have to chance it on 97 until such times.

The car has ran on VPower fine with no issues but it's booked into Andy Forrest at the end of the month to get mapped properly.

as above , just drive carefully if you put 97 in it , i expect it will be fine , the japs don’t often tune subarus , every jdm subaru (6 now ) i’ve bought has not been re mapped in japan , my previous jdm’s have been fine on shell or tesco’s 99 with out being re mapped in the uk , the mapper checked this before tuning to uk fuel , if you only have 97 octane where you are then get it mapped on 97 fuel , but try and avoid BP 97 fuel , well worth a longer trip to shell or tesco even if you take some jerry cans with you 👍
