In a couple of weeks I will be driving to the south west of Ireland. I have a 95WRX which I usually run on Optimax as the car is tuned for 100RON, do the Shell stations in Ireland have Optimax or do they only sell the 97RON super?
I've had a look on the Shell website but their station search only gives Optimax results for UK stations!

4 star?! You had me worried for a moment there - I'm taking my Scooby to Ireland soon too.
Thankfully, of course, they do have unleaded - check here for proof and to find the cheapest available.
Presumably you really meant 95 RON regular unleaded as opposed to Super. Maybe a boot full of octane booster would be a better bet than a caravan full of Optimax

Yeap, be careful with the fuel over there. Super unleaded is very rare and nigh on impossible to get in outside the bid cities but normal unleaded is available everywhere. So you may get Super unleaded down in Cork but make sure you have a full tank and plenty of octane booster if you plan to check out the Ring of Kerry.
Oh and one other thing, avoid "damsels in distress" beside their broken down car on a country road as she maybe bait for a hijack! Irish ramraiders just love the Impreza and they're quite rare over there because of the crazy insurance premiums!
Finally, leave your radar detector at home as it is illegal over there and drink plenty of Guinness!
