Default Exhaust doesn't fit

I'm putting my current project back together and have run in to an issue, the exhaust doesn't meet with the downpipe and there's around an 18cm gap although it's just mocked up at the moment. I'm presuming part of this system is from a classic but looking for opinions and solutions.

The shell is a 2003 spec c (blob)
The downpipe is a Japspeed sports cat (apparently for a UK blob)
The cat back was removed from a blob wagon.

Have they given me the wrong downpipe or is the cat back originally from a classic?

TIA

Hard to tell. But think it's the down pipe that's to sort.

"Standard" OEM centre pipe lengths
Classic - about 1350mm in length
Newage - about 1260mm in length

Is it possible you need a downpipe with a flexi (which would make up the difference) like the Toyosport??

Thanks Don. I'll measure the centre pipe then.

If you're happy with all of the other components and don't want to spend too much money, a piece of the correct diameter stainless pipe and two flanges could be fabricated, either by yourself or pretty much any decent exhaust fabricator and it shouldn't cost much at all.

That way you're not spending huge money, and if you ever want to sell the other exhaust bits they haven't been chopped up.

I had exactly the same issue with my 2003 spec c, I used a japspeed downpipe and a classic centre section and had a gap between the 2 of 40mm.
My options were either buy the japspeed cat back system to suit the downpipe or have 40mm added to the centre section flared at the end and mated to a 76mm flange to match the downpipe.
I chose the latter as I wanted to keep my genome back box.
Hope this helps.

Just to add, the turbo flange of the downpipe needed holes elongating for it to fit properly.

nothing to do with a 'missing flexi'...........

in simple terms the classics and JDM Bugs (all single scroll) used a short d/pipe and long centre section, as opposed to the newage UK / EU cars that all use a longer d/pipe and short centre.........
complete turbo back systems interchange but individually the front & centre must "match"

highly likely you simply have a miss match of classic & newage style set-ups

An exhaust fabricator will be able to weld in a piece of tube for not a lot of money

So I have resolved the issue by getting hold of a full Japspeed system. Apparently they have designed this so it is a generic fit for both classic and newage.
It seems that to run their downpipe you'll likely have to have something fabricated to match another system or use their full system.
Will be fitting at the weekend so can give feedback regarding fitment.

I’m told they have recently changed the design so it depends on which version you have I guess…
