1992 WRX build number
Hi guys,
I'm trying to find out what build number my 1992 WRX is, does the VIN number relate to the build number? For example if my VIN number was GC8-003000 does that mean it's number 3000 off the production line?
If not is there a way of finding out the build number using the VIN number? I've tried all the usual VIN registrys online but it's not coming up.

Simple question: Why, In relation to what?
Most (if not all) Subaru's various model VINs/Chassis Numbers seem to commence their sequential 6 digit serial number part from 002001
First GC8 in the JDM database is GC8-002001 (built in May 1992) but not all subsequent VINs are registered.

Don Re your statement : "Most (if not all) Subaru's various model VINs/Chassis Numbers seem to commence their sequential 6 digit serial number part from ... "
I was talking with wrx300scooby (who runs the wrx300register http://wrx300register.weebly.com about finding our WRX300 serial numbers ( sadly we don't have nice little plates next to the gear ****. )
but he believes our VIN can only identify our UK cars as a WRX
Would that be your opinion be for say JF1GDAKD35G055222 ?

The parts database will only show it as a WRX
However the Main Option code will probably help determine some of the differences to a standard UK WRX that are fitted in the factory, the rest being done by Subaru UK on arrival in the country.
"77" is not listed in the worshop manual list of "standard" Option codes for MY05.

I wonder if the rest of us have that 77 opt Code ( Perhaps badges or the seats )
WRX300scoob can check if this Code is on his VIN
Cheers for this info

Hi, I cannot claim to run the register, that accolade belongs to someone else, just to make things clear. I have been informed that each PPP certificate was numbered and that is the build number of each WRX 300. Mine is number 7/300 if that really is the case.

No it doesn't, mine is marked 7 in the section below and to the right of the VIN on the top certificate.
