Default Subaru main dealer parts departments

New to the Subaru world and I’ve already used a couple of different places like import car parts. I’ve got a list of things I want to do over the winter and I was wondering if the Subaru main dealers parts departments are still able to source parts for new ages or if they’ve stopped altogether? A quick google suggests the US has great parts support from their dealers but I’ve seen nothing at all for the UK.

I’d only be going there as a last resort or for smaller items only as they’re bound to be more expensive than the usual places.

Mostly small things that break or you find are missing like like bits of trim, clips, screws, bolts etc. and I think I’m going to replace the STI door stickers on it as they’ve had 20 years of being washed.

I can find the larger bits from parts specialists like window trims, fog light covers, fog lights, switches etc. and I’ve already changed a few bits back to standard that way. However I haven’t found anyone selling JDM Xenons for a Bugeye, I’ve restored mine but they’re not perfect and I’d ideally like to replace them for new ones in the future.

Depends on the dealer from what I understand some will go the extra mile to help you, but they should be able to get any genuine subaru part no matter how old the car.

Give Alyn from AS Performance a shout he has loads of stock and a really good guy to talk to.

Echo what Nossy said, long as the part isn't discontinued then any main dealer should be able t source it, but likewise depends how keen to help the main dealer is, I've got 2 local ish to me, one couldn't be more helpful whereas the other one don't seem to give two hoots and are bloody hopeless.

Uk dealer network is pish on the most, they are to busy sponsoring horse trials and golf tournaments to actualy give a **** about owners. While some of the dealer staff are great rhey are limited by the muppets at subaru UK who seem to not know what the brand they have is.

You would have thought with our damp and wet roads plus with our friends in the highlands who get some insane weather the AWD system would have sold like hot cakes.

Does anyone know when the boss of Subaru UK is leaving. Need to save the sompany

Thanks very much for the suggestions. The ones I regularly pass by are;

Colin Appleyard Ashton under Lyne
Redstone (North Wales)
Dales Subaru
Unity Coventry
Unity Tredington

Are any of those rated? There was one Warrington way but they seem to have disappeared now.

The UK dealership network is very poor. Customer service is non-existent. Alyn is your man for parts and always available to offer advice etc.

Dales Subaru wanted over £300 for a replacement key when there's a guy on Facebook that will do them for less than £100, so there's that. I'd never go to a dealer unless absolutely necessary, life screws me enough without bending over for them prices, a reputable breaker or icp would be my first stops

The branding is really weird and I’m not surprised they’re going down hill, also seems an odd move that the new Impreza name is going to be something which isn’t an Impreza especially when car companies can call cars whatever they want in individual markets e.g. a Jazz is called a Fit in Japan.

I’ll be avoiding the dealers as much as I can but it’s good to know they might come up useful as a very last resort.

Copied from a different thread where one of the guys needed something he couldn't find at breakers.

This is what I said.

Some years ago a friend of mine was telling me about the BMW dealership and how he had some parts from them and they were the cheapest around. I was genuinely shocked. Any way I needed a few bits for my roof flap and as you know they are very thin on the ground. Spoke to the Subaru dealership and they they were able to order the parts I needed. Most were a few quid. I was speaking to the guy there and he said anything official Subaru they can get in even if it isn't made anymore because they will reproduce it although it will take some time. He was telling me about a guy who came in looking for a V1 STI intercooler and they were able to get it but it took a few weeks to arrive.

These are the guys I used to get bits

David Kelleher, his father owns the dealership. Its near Halesowen in the West Midlands.

Well this will shock you, one of my family has a friend who works at Subaru in Stoke, he gave him a call for me for some new parts, as he could give him a discount. Turned out they had moved and binned loads of there old stock. As you can imagine i was gutted. Few years ago now.

I've been really happy with Unity Coventry being able to source parts for me.
I've bought enough over the last 2 years (they usually give me a 10% discount when they can) and when I enquired about a Subaru mug on display they gave it to me for free!
The only item that could not be sourced in UK were the cushions/foam between the rear hatch spoiler and hatch door which I had to import from US.

Contacted a Subaru dealer the other day and they said anything over £500 has too be paid by bank transfer? Sounds dodgy that does,
