Default Shell opimax or Tesco Momentum?

I apologise if this has been covered before but does anyone know the difference between them, what i think i know is they both are made by the same company and they both have 5% ethanol.
But what warrants 20p a litre difference?

Tesco’s momentum is normally a fair bit cheaper , plus does the same job as shell , if tesco’s is a bit far from you then just use shell as you won’t save any money , i’ve not noticed the difference between them , mine are mapped on tesco , i notice a cold day from a warm day as you get more power when it’s cold v tesco v shell , i heard avoid bp , but if no other choice then not much you can do

I was under the impression that the only supermarket supplying off the shelf petrol is Sainsburys and they use BP.

What I do know is that my DC5 ran really badly on Momentum when I couldn't get Shell V power.

and yes avoid BP as its not even the same octane rating as the other two.

Few years ago but an investment like that is surely not going to change?

I use any of these but prefer Tesco Momentum not only because it is cheaper but it feels both my previous FSTi and current 20th annirsary run better with it.
For what it's worth, my previous Abarth 500 popped and banged on Tesco Momentum but didn't on Shell Optimax (also felt faster on the former).
One fuel to avoid is BP Ultimate as has been said.

Might sound obvious but when you guys are saying Optimax are you talking about V power. Or has Sell released a new fuel.

I had a similar conversation with Matty because lets face it there isn't always a shell or a tesco to get fuel from so would it be ok to mix and match. I was told on mine stick to shell because thats what it has been mapped to but if I'm in need of fuel then use tesco but try to keep off boost.

I think the caveat with that is it probably depends on how much of a margin you have in your map. On other cars like what has been mentioned Tesco does pop and bang more. Octane rating is a good base to go off but remember there are different additives in the fuel.

So really there isn't a definitive answer lol depends on your circumstances.

Unless the car has been mapped to within an inch of its life (no reasonable mapper would this IMHO) I don't think it matters as long as the octanes are the same really.

you can just as well map for 95 , it will make little difference on a standard car , i was thinking of a trip to europe and as sul is not as common in europe , then was it worth doing a re map to 95 octane ?
