Default Godspeed Brake Discs - Any reason I shouldn't drill?

I've bought grooved discs from Godspeed along with their Kevlar pads, to fit to my 2006 Hawkeye WRX. My friend runs an engineering firm and has offered to cross drill them in addition to the grooves, is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

Is there a risk of reducing structural integrity or cracking or whatever?

I always avoided drilled/drilling discs because they’re known for cracking.

Leave them alone.

THIS! Drilling disc weakens them even a set that was designed from the factory that way...as the drill holes become the weak point and under high use/temps can lead to crack marks along the drill points, not worth it really!...Looks good though.SJ.

If you’re just after the look and don’t drive it overly hard it should be fine.

For best performance though, grooves are the answer.

I've had these on my classic for a few years and they've been good.

I was also told the same as above about adding drill holes - don't bother.

Cheap drilled discs are just that, drilled.
Propper holed discs cost much more because the holes are cast in the disc not drilled, and far less likely that cracks will form from the edges of the drilled holes.

eta, I have had many sets of these from Ian.
Standard WRX calipers/disc/pad sizes are never going to set the world alight, but follow the bedding in procedure to the letter and they will be a good improvement over stock.

Don't drill. Every single drilled disc I have ever owned has ended up stress cracking around the holes.

Leave them as grooved only, that's the way forward.

Iv heard that they crack too but just doing research online if a bugatti veyron has drilled discs along with every/most hypercars even ones that have set world lap records at places like the Nurburgring they have drilled only discs.. so may not too be worrying to have fitted as I imagine the discs on those generate 10x more heat than an impreza would. Saying that i still have opted for grooved on mine lol

Plus you'll find that the Veyron has carbon ceramic discs as will all the super cars you have mentioned, not £50 steel discs as per most Subarus.

Yep, I believe the correct term is perforated discs, as opposed to drilled discs.
