Default Decat or sports cat is it worth it

The impreza sti blobeye I have just now is due to get the following mods done but wondering if there is any big difference to decat or sports cat other than mot.

I currently have an md321t to be fitted with other mods and a 3" blitz spec r catback exhaust to fit but not sure what to do regarding down pipe and headers and uppipe am not chasing numbers just looking for a good set up if anyone can point me in the right direction 😁

The blitz will be very very loud and really do your head in even at normal and even worse at speeds over 50mph so 5he sports cat might be a good idea an£ save you all the messing especially if you get a funny policeman as these cars have a loud presence even without the blitz exhaust.

Am no to fussed about how loud it is as AVE had loads of Impreza just not with the md321t so just looking at weather or not to just decat it or run a sports cat if there is a massive power difference

Run a sport cat as it will pass M.O.T, I had the the same turbo and Blitz N spec exhaust with decat pipe and it did my head in ..and the Neighbours were not happy when I leave for work at at 7 am in the morning !

in real term performance there is nothing in it , i had two fsti one with standard cat one with a sports nothing in it off the line , it’s around 20 bhp more between cars , sports cat a bit more turbo noise , de cat can be big hassle mot time , plus illegal if you get stopped , any change in down pipe cat will need a remap

100% sports cat. Makes the car feel a lot more free flowing. On my classic it improved it massively, but I did swap to 3" bore at same time.

Same here - well worth it. Mine is a Cobra.

I have PPP fitted - I get pops and bangs on the over-run but it runs really well and I don't fancy swapping Prodrive for a remapped Ecutek as that caused a new short engine a few years back.

I use the stock downpipe for MOT, the car feels very hesitant to build boost compared to decat or the 100 cell cat I'm using now. MD321T+
