Default 2007 hawk sti radiator - non genuine

so my car is booked in @ thwaites to have a new rad fitted and they have quoted me for a genuine subaru rad @ around £300 which wasnt an issue HOWEVER whilst im being furloughed i could do with saving a few quid.
ive seen ICP do one for around £125 and i will ring alyn @ as performance to see what he suggests. are the non genuine aftermarket ones any good?

cheers

With the current situation it’s a shame no one local can give you a hand, I don’t think it’s a massive job to your average mechanic , be saving you a good few pennies.

there’s bound to be a clip on youtube how to change it , it takes more time filling it properly than getting the rad off

it needs other work doing to it aswell,im not and dont pretend to be a mechanic and im far too big to be trying to roll around under my subaru so it needs to go to a garage, then once it has been mechanically repaired it needs to go to the bodyshop for a front end respray courtesy of mr badger

Wright Automotive are on the same industrial estate as RCM, just a general MOT & repairs place but the owner has a high power classic impreza he built & they run various track cars etc.

Why not ask them if they'd be happy to fit a radiator you've bought, or if they can supply a good quality aftermarket one from a known brand? It'd probably be quite cheap, and save you on transport costs. Then when the car is mobile you can have bodywork done by a bodyshop of your choice. Fitting a new radiator isn't a particularly difficult or specialised task.

I am aware that RCM (like many other business's) are working at reduced levels so why not simply try calling them

we have had to reduce and instigate various systmes to enable us to comply with the Government guidelines and it certainly isn't conducive to keeping a business running remotely normally

I paid £50 for transport £200 for the mishimoto rad and £110 labour- 2hrs + sundries 8olloxs.

When it came back and the coolant was blue I did the flush myself. I then realised it's a real simple job to do myself.

Check local motor factors as some do an exchange basis

I understand what your saying but it ifs a weekend car only “no track use etc” does it really matter? Honest question my car which has this jap crap in is a weekend car only with my son in it who probably loves it more than me..if it’s a highly modified car I understand for racing etc...but not everyones car is
