Default Buying a JDM model - Advice Needed

Hi,
Thinking about buying a JDM STI bug eye (seeb what looks like a nice one which has had it's speedo converted to miles from Km)...
Anything I need to worry about over buying a UK spec STI?
Is there likely to be much of a hike in insurance costs since it's a non-uk car.
Many thanks for any advice given.

The converter is about 60£ , it solders into the gearbox output loom , takes about 30 mins to fit it , insurance is pretty well the same , often more spec on a jdm v a uk , more chance of a rust free example when jdm

*8k redline on jdm so uk wont be correct, easy to convert the speed pulse with a converter.

And i hope you were joking with the last bit.

It’s over 8 k on the rpm , i think it’s 8400?? rpm , but in practice no point revving it that hard as turbo starts running out of puff , only down side with jdm it’s a bit revvy at motorway speed even with the 6 speed box , i don’t think there is a lot of rpm v speed difference in an sti jdm 6 speed and a wrx , i would always buy the sti with a 6 speed ,Stronger box etc , other plus side reliability wise it’s a 2 litre engine , if i did it over again , sports cat remap stroke to a 2.1 or similar , i’m currently sticking with my 2.5 Fsti my personal favourite of the jdm line up
