Why so much hate for Bugeye.
I have recently purchased a stunning 30 000 mile Bugeye STI. Very very well cared for car and UK Spec.
I wanted to buy a low mileage BlobEye JDM but got a great deal on the Bugeye so made the decision to buy it.
I sometimes think did I make a mistake buying a UK STI and a Bugeye ?
Why is there a lot of hate for the Bugeye STI,? Is the BlobEye a lot better car? I believe the engines are the same am I correct.
I intend to keep my Scooby for a long time.
What do you guys think. Should I have bought the BlobEye and the JDM car?
The things I liked about the Bugeye is the history and mileage and it is stunning condition. It's a Prodrive Styling Model. Sometimes I look at it and really like it but then think why do people dislike them so much. Lol
Is the BlobEye much better, or the JDM if so in what way.
Debating whether to keep this and spend a little on it handling wise or change it for a mint BlobEye and maybe JDM?

the bugeye when it 1st came out was a radical change from the classic shape and back then was deemed very very ugly, however in my opinion it gets better with age and a mint prodrive bug sti is a thing of beauty.
i was a hater of the bugeye but over the years it has grown on me (like a pretty wart lol)

I do look sometimes and think it looks really good especially with the Prodrive body styling. Just curious why a lot of people seemed to hate on them and if the BlobEye was superior in any way and the JDM car.

the Jag xjs was considered ugly when it first came out and the designer of the Jag E type didn't think it would go any where.
Of course you couldn't make a comparison …….

I saw a bugeye this evening, and like Shreksta I think they look great, the best looking newage. But I would check all the bushes for perishing if they haven't been replaced, and whilst I'm sure it's immaculate, I tend to shy away from older cars with low miles; it should still have service proof each year, so 20 odd stamps.

It's a very cared for example with full documented history and lots of money spent.
I am shocked to find so many of you guys who like the Bug!!
So what advantages do the Blobeyes and JDM. Have?
Can I upgrade bushed, roll bars and suspension to make it handle like a BlobEye?
What about the engine are they strong?

I used to have a bugeye sti wagon too and loved the look. I have a WRX bugeye wagon now and it has morettes and I much prefer the bugeye wagon over a blob wagon. The blob wagon lights look way too big for the car, the saloons get away with them because of the arches but the blob wagon is my least favourite Impreza shape.
Bugeye just suits the wagon shape and looks a lot sleeker from the front 3/4 angle compared to a blob.
Wonder who’s got my old STI, can’t remember where it went but it was maybe Denmark. Still sad I had to sell it at the time.

Did you buy it at auction as I was looking at one very similar? I much prefer the bug over the blob and have been looking for one for a few months but no luck (or at least I didn't want to pay over the odds)
I prefer the look of the JDM version with the fog caps instead of the wrap around covers but thats just me. Yours looks great and don't listen to anyone mate.

The guy i bought it from was very very particular and had it in an Air Chamber. I was originally not looking for a Bugeye as you don't see many, particularly in stunning condition, but happened to come across this one. Even the guy who collected the car for me in a closed trailer said it was the best he had seen, so i think i got lucky really as its hard to find one like this and particularly a Bugeye. I cant find any other Bug like this for sale only Blobeyes or Hawkeyes.
I am very happy with the car it drives like new literally!!

I own a Bugeye and would say its one of the most ugly Impreza's I've owned, its only a daily so i'm not fused. It's still an Impreza. I never liked them when they came out, but to be fair it's basically a Blobeye with a facelift, if i bought a nicer bugeye WRX lets say, i would facelift it to a hawkeye most likely. As yours is i wouldn't touch its just to original. Unless your planning on using it as a daily.
