Default Bugeye Sti V Blobeye Sti (Differences)

I don't mean this to start any sort of debate but a genuine question as I have seen one of each that I like. This question is nothing to do with looks etc but soley based on
1 Reliability
2 Performance
3.Handling
4. And general mechanical differences

The bugeye I have seen is a JDM and the blobeye is a Tpe UK and both comparisons are relating to stock cars.

Are the bugeye engines pretty much identical to the blobeye. I read somewhere that the bugeye was completely different to the classic but on the blobeye they returned to some of the classic shape principals?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

JDM bugeye has better spec pistons ?
To save money later cars have cheaper internals, not a problem til well past 400 bhp. IMHO

Strut mounts are slightly different as front geometry was altered slightly.
Poor design "face-lift" added to make "blob-eye" ( only joking fellas ! )

HTH

Not much differences when comparing an early blobeye 03/04 UK to a Bug UK.

JDM is a different matter.

EDIT: I wouldn't take a bug over a blob, even if it was JDM Bug and UK Blob. I might be shallow, but sometimes lOOks are everything

Thanks for the replies, so in a nutshell, a bugeye and early blobeye apart from cosmetics are pretty much the same but a JDM bugeye has stronger internals than a type uk bugeye?
Are the JDM bugeye harder on the road as in a stiffer suspension?

The JDM bug will have more features, - rear wiper/folding morrors etc.

Bugeye all day long if it was my choice.

You may not think it so important but the steering wheel on the bug is larger (well UK anyway) and it's nowhere near as nice, I don't like it on my car, feels a lot less sporty

Shame you can't get a Prodrive Style JDM bugeye into the country. Has the not so minging front bumper and AFAIK is a spec C shell (roof vent)

Have to agree with you on that, I hate my steering wheel, and it's going to be replaced soon with an aftermarket one when I find one I like

rear shocks on blobs(near side)are not very Reliable and don't last very long.

Ah glad it's not just me!!

Not sure I'll keep mine so the remap and steering wheel swap may not take place. Contacted david @ api who was helpful and had one that looked nice and fitted properly if you wanted to contact him. I didn't find it easy sourcing one. Hope you get it sorted!!

cheers
