I was buy a gc8 with engine that replaced, The new engine code is ej20 s20c 701.
i read a lot of posts from 2005 to 2017 but not really understood what is the engine..
thanks 🙏 for the helping
the only change from this answer to my engine that is not EJ207 on my engine, just EJ20.
sorry maybe I’m confusing, But I don’t want do a damage.. 😀
EJ20 just means it's a 2.0L block as with EJ25 meaning a 2.5L block. the 4th character denotes its type/use/internals which doesn't appear on the block.
It's possible to conclude that the "BLOCK" or possibly the complete short engine (block plus internals) came from an V7 EJ207 engine. But that is as far as you can go without stripping the engine down to check.
The heads maybe original items transferred over. (V7 EJ207 complete engine came with AVCS )
What Model Year is this GC8 ?? Is it EDM or JDM ??
It’s JDM 2000 and the VIN:jf1gc8ld3yg097752
but it’s not the original engine.

So it's an EDM (European Domestic Model - model code EC below) and LHD - so definitely not a JDM (Japanese Domestic Model)
Originally fitted with an EJ205 engine and built in October 1999 so is a MY00 (2000) or as some like to call them a V6 (despite not being a JDM or an STI).
The V7 EJ207 block/small block/complete engine, whatever it is, will have come from a MY01 (2001) newage bugeye STI which would have had AVCS for the inlet valve cams.
The original EJ205 would not have it, so is one way of telling if the complete engine was fitted.

thanks, it’s not the original engine. it was replaced before 5 years.
In the historical list can find “sti block” but I’m not sure it’s right.
There is one more detail that I found:
63AB.
Thanks for the help
it looks as if all the original EJ205 Ancilliaries have been refitted to the "new" short block.
If it's been in use for the past 5 years and it hasn't come to any harm, then it probably won't in the future.

yes they replaced only the block to a new, all other things do a refresh.
I buy this car before a month and I jest want to know what engine I have before I start push him.
