Question rev counter

hi all my 1999 classic that ive had for 20 years rev counter stopped working,ive checked around for anything obvious but nowt found,can anyone tell me the exact location of the senser /sender unit on the gear box housing or what it even looks like so that i can check for broken wires or even anything else to help with this issue would be welcome thanks all regards dennis

No sensor comes via the ecu from the ignition.

hi all thanks for your responces to my query ,,it was the rev counter itself sticking quick tap and it works fine ,,another one on order thanks again dennis

The good ole give it a hit to get it working. Its mental how it works on certain things
