Hi all, I am looking at buying a 1997 turbo model I have seen advertised on Facebook market place and never owned one before as I am a classic ford man at heart but fancy one of the old shape subaru's for a winter classic. What should I look out for and check?

At that age and miles rust is the thing to look out for. Tend to go inside the rear aches and strut towers. So poke around there. You can also try remove the boot trim and both sides see if rust has started to come through there.

 

Rust, piston slap when started from cold.

And isn't it annoying when someone clearly cannot be arsed in their advert when it says 'needs a good clean inside'
