Default Deristrict my 2008 Sti Japanese import 185kph

James Cole , Today 03:53 AM

I a 2008 Subaru STI 6 speed manual 2L turbo but it is restricted to 185kph being a Japanese import please can someone tell me how to remove this restriction. I do track days and it is sooo frustrating. I also use it as a daily runner

if you buy a solder in converter from kph to mph then it will in effect remove your limiter , they are between 30 to 50£ on ebay , i tend to fit mine under the intercooler , easier to remove the ic to do it , 185kph limiter will be made into 185mph , second option it can be removed from the ecu , but converter is easier and cheaper

So am I wasting £ having an importer de-limit my newly arrived WRX if I plan on getting it mapped in due course?
