Urgent wheel advice
Any wheel specialist out there as I’m Well in abit of a muddle,
I just bought some work emontion d9r alloys in :
18 x 8.5 et47
I was told they clear brembos so auto presumed they would clear ap 6 pots
not the case so now I’m alittle stuck the ap’s are hitting on the actual in side
of the alloys as the ap’s I guess are a bigger caliper and hitting on the spokes
so 100% these alloys won’t fit... I don’t want to lose the ap’s so I guess I will
have to sell on the alloys.
I can see they was originally fitted to a hatch Impreza with brembos fitted though I have
a blob spec c I was going to have the wheels refurbed this week but that is all off now
due to the wheel not fitting over the ap’s
are there any differences between the hatch and the blob on the way the hub sit
just I’m gutted that the wheel don’t fit.
Fitted to the hatch with brembos previously :

You've answered your own question 355mm 6pot AP's are bigger (in overall diameter) than 4pot Brembos.
Probably the same reason you can't fit Alcon 365mm 6 pots to the OEM WRX STI Saloon wheels whereas the 343mm 6 pot (SAME caliper) version is fine - wheel design.
355mm AP's require a clearance radius of at least 205mm

Generally speaking the AP caliper is a slimmer design than the Brembo BUT the inner design of those Works is very poor clearance wise and hence with the larger 355 rotor its not clearing.......
most 18" wheels would fly over that set-up
most 18" wheels would fly over that set-up

Ok thanks people...if they fit over a hatch set up dose that mean proving the studs are at 5x100 they should
clear brembos on classic / Newage... just I’m gonna have to sell these on and I paid quite a lot for them thinking
they would be a straight fit over the ap’s
im absolutoy fuming with myself for getting it so wrong

the work alloys clearance is exactly 205mm but still to tight you would have
have a extra 10 to 15mm on top of that to be happy just wish I would have
known this first, I should have asked about more first

Hi Don.... would you happen to what clearances are needed
for brembos on a Newage and classic by chance
I’m just wondering if these wheels will clear brembos on the above
as I’m not selling the ap’s so the wheels will have to be sold

Here you go. This is for the classic
Most wheels require ET48 or less to fit over Brembos. The size of the P-WRC1 Prodrive rims fitted to the P1 where ET53 which will not fit over the Brembos. The same rim is (was) available in ET46 which will fit over Brembos. Do not go over 7 1/2 inch rim cause chances are you will run into clearance issues.

So with these been a et47 is going to be tight maybe a 5 mm spacer will be needed to clear brembos on a classic ,,,,
will the bulk of the caliper fit in the wheel though as the brembo been a smaller calliper than the ap I guess it will just the et

its nothing to do with Width or ET its purely down to inner spoke design / rim clearance
your pix show them fitted over Brembo's so that is not an issue BUT they appear to have a very tight radius to the spokes at the rim end and hence they are struggling with larger set-ups............
we have run customers cars on custom 355mm / Alcon 6pots and 17" competition rims.................
