Default Vf34 turbo

Hi all just had car remapped its uk2000 my99 with fmic vf34 turbo uprated fuel pump fuel pressure regulator. It absolutely flies now just low down the turbo seems abit lazy is this normal ?? Ive checked for leak and stuff all seems to be ok its runnung 1.35 bar ive been told off the mapper he said when it boosts it just seems to bit abit laggy. Thought i would ask the question see if anyone else has had that problem. Thanks.

Full boost feels around 4k dump valve dosnt seem to make as much noise as it used to with the td04 on under that rev range and it just feels like its restricted it hard to explain but when full boost comes it the car is off

Ive been on the internet all day trying to solve this issue and its doing my nut in but i think i could of found my problem and its my own fault but wont know until i get into work tomorrow. When i bought the turbo it had a pipe from wastgate to the housing of the turbo and a t piece coming it. Ive been reading and they have a restrictor pill in some pipes which i took off the turbo like a dumb ***. I think that this could be the issue with the low boost pressure low down in the revs like i said it only feels quick at 4k onwards. Could any one shed any light on this pill in the pipe ? Thanks guys and gals

Surely this should have been identified when it was mapped?

Well it has a 3 port boost solonoid sooo im guessing you might not need the pill i may be right i maybe wrong im just trying to just see why it seems very laggy when the vf34 is supposed to be quite quick spooler or am i wrong on that too haha

If it has a two port BCS you need the T piece and restrictor pill if it has a 3 port it can be piped direct but needs mapped to suit. Whoever done your mapping has'nt a clue.

The vf34 would struggle to come on boost as quick as the td04. But it should be sooner than 4k.

What would you expect it full boost at then mate ? Roughly. Also ive noticed that the turbo whistle has slightly gone the td04 was quite loud compared to this vf34

Turbo whistle usually means things are amiss, as for full boost on a vf34 there's lots of variables but about 3200 rpm

the VF34 on a 2Litre wrx with front mount isn't going to be an early spooling turbo, better on the sti, as with the VF35. I could never get better than full boost by 3800rpm, that's with top mount, de-catted up-pipe and 3" milltek with sports cat. You just lose all that quick shoot away at traffic lights of the TD04.
There probably is a fault which will improve things when corrected but I went the 2.5 route to get quicker spool.
