Okay, I know this is very subjective with body size/shape and comfort coming into play, but...
Any useful tips from you driving experts out there? I often wonder if I've got it all wrong!
For the record-
I'm 6' tall.
I like the steering wheel and pedals close. (maybe I sit too close!)
I have the seat back pretty upright with the seat base on full backwards tilt (U.K. MY00 seats.) which seems to maximise the "bucket effect".
Thoughts?

I drive very straight up too, but not by choice. I'm pretty big 1.93m (Can anybody convert that), and therefore, for the "perfect" position (Legs and arms slightly bent), I need for the seat to be very straight.
Not a problem though, since I've had this problem forever, I've gotten used to driving straight.
So, arms and legs slightly bent in th "normal" position. Seat hight is up to you, but short peolpe like it up, and big people like it down (go figure)
But I'm no expert though...
cheers

Big thread ran along a similar line some time ago..... It was generally accepted that for least back ache an upright stance needed to be adopted.... I've got it just right now

Sit fairly upright, but so that you can feel your lower back being supported.
Steering wheel should so far away so you can touch the top of the wheel with the underside of your wrist without leaning away from the seat, but no closer than that.
Pedals should be set so that you can fully depress them all without locking your leg.

Upright seat back.
Back of wrists fit on top of wheel at full arm extension.
And you can reach the pedals.
Some cars this setup is impossible to achieve and still be able to see the instruments and not bang your knees on the steering wheel whereas other cars are massively adjustable (Celica GT4 )
Cheers

In my MR2 I feel like I am lying down
Thats how I like it though - at 6ft and 17 stone I struggle with most vehicles. Have to agree with Ianthough, the MR2 has amazing adjustments - seats, wheel etc etc. The most comfortable car I have had to date.

So is that facing forwards, or have I got that wrong too? [/quote]
Good point - Yes! (note: unless reversing)

Thanks guys.
I guess I've got it about right then

Cheers - I'll try a search.
Still think that the car would benefit from adjustable steering wheel reach, though.

For 99% of cars I find that the best seating position is :-
In the front, on the right hand side.
For certain cars this changes to the left hand side. Interestingly this is predominantly the case when I am abroad.
