Default Looking for a decent P1 or Type R

After a 5 year break from Subaru ownership I am now looking to get back in to a decent 2 door GC8 but it seems there is mostly dealer owned P1’s and R’s that are over priced and there is a serious lack of cars for sale from private sellers. Is any members on here considering selling up in the near future?

Yeah looks like they have bought them all then inflated the price. If all else fails try importing one yourself.

Prices for Type Rs in Japan are eye watering now too. Was inevitable really.

Yes agree, very strong money and like you say, it’ll just be an ornament sadly. This needs to to to a collector imo.

The prices reflect the cost of a decent Type R in Japan, then import etc etc. The situation will only get worse when the US 25 year rule on the older versions comes up.

If you have a good Retna then, you will be sitting pretty.

I’ve actually been looking at the black type R Hurst cars has on their site at the moment but I’m not sure I want a black car plus the high miles is a bit off putting. I know they used to be rated highly on this forum years ago for sourcing and only selling decent cars so I take it that’s still the case?

They are not very good at taking sold car adverts down from the site either.

What’s a decent Type R worth these days? Mine is locked up safe and sound in my heated garage. Having not used it for a couple of years I may pop it back on the road later this year. For information it’s a V4 running around 360bhp with a 6 speed ‘box, bigger brakes etc. All in very good condition. Just curious to values, not planning on selling it but who knows what’s around the corner.

It’s difficult to say what they’re worth as most of the GC8 cars aren’t selling for the prices advertised, have you got any pics of the car?

Depending on body condition , probably £13 - £15 k , maybe slightly more , only one way good classics are going , and as said , its getting difficult to find good ones now , even good fresh imports are getting harder to find , and are expensive now , glad I bought mine when I did

No photos at the moment as it’s buried in the garage. It’s just a mica black Type R, with 18” PFF7 wheels in a red/bronze colour.

Has anyone sold a type r recently?
I'd like to know what they are actually selling for,are the ones with the higher price tags actually being bought?
I'm interested as I own one and it would be nice to know what it's really worth.

The only cars selling seem to be sub 11k or open auction on Ebay, I think the economic uncertainty with brexit looming is playing a part as P1’s aren’t shifting either unless keenly priced.
