Default Subaru buying advice - anyone know this car?

Does anybody know this car or share any opinions on it.
Seriously considering buying!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STI-JDM-Version-Factory-Forged-Engine-Fresh-Import-2016/273558416035?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid =p2060353.m1438.l2649

Thanks in advance!

There is a little discrepancy on the second MOT:

Its probably a typo, maybe 86,727 Kms? Not sure about the add stating a very rate forged engine. Surely its just the standard bug engine? I'm sure the STIs were forged so perhaps the WRX was too?

Its the import STI's that were all forged, UK spec non forged and 1000rpm lower redline etc.

Yeah there's a few typo's in the ad. Its not what i would call rare like an S202 or something (I wish)

What about the price?

Too low? too high?

I think the price is really good considering other Subaru prices at the moment. I've owned my JDM V4 STi for 2 years now and it didn't have stacks of paperwork when I bought it being an import. I think it's worth a look considering its originality and money spent on it (cambelt tyres etc). UK Imprezas from 90's to mid 00's are rusty now, recent JDM's should be free of rust. Also final point although it's not a LTD edition like an S202, even UK Imprezas are a rare sight on UK roads these days nevermind JDM's.

I was looking at that myself and it looked to be good value if it's in the condition stated in the pictures!

The engine is a Factory Forged Piston EJ207 'S20C' in this shape of the STi V7 they are a desirable block, they're Semi-Closed Deck so not a full on closed deck though. (I've got this shape shortblock in my classic wagon). I've put a link below from NASIOC for a bit more info but aside from a fully nitrided cross drilled crank with a fully closed deck (neither of which I don't think you can get together as a package without mixing and matching individual parts) it's about as desirable as they come in terms of the short-block.

I'm not sure if JDM imports have the AVCS (variable valve timing) heads or not but I'm sure someone can advise. These heads meant to do well in terms of boosting the mid range torque on the EJ20's which the EJ25's have naturally with the increased capacity.

It actually seems that any engine after STi V7 wasn't fitted forged pistons so that was the last engine to have it, but had the double drilled crankshaft instead.

I wouldn't worry about the mileage discrepancy, MOT Testers can bang that stuff in wrong all the time unfortunately. I like that there is an advisory for undersealing too, that's funny.

Loads of info here https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2385141

Thanks everyone so far, some pretty sound information.

I had done a fair amount of research a few years ago and remember some of it.

Always been on my must have list of cars, but always ended up with something else Jap.

I don't need another!

I've got a saved search on eBay and have a look once a week or so generally just to see if there's anything interesting about for sale.

Definitely worth considering, priced quite well compared to a few others unless they’ve been hit by the rust bug!

Looks like a clean tidy example.
