Has been on going for a number of years due to availability of replacement parts and world demand

Yes, they are obliged to do it because of the deaths involved. I was just being reluctant as my local Subaru dealer is a Citroen dealer, new to Subaru, and I was fretting that they've never done a hatch..... and then Covid arrived.
But I don't want shrapnel to the head, and the good folk of SN may have noticed that I'm quite accident prone. Best get on with it.

I need to check my Bugeye. Going do ditch my newage steering wheel on my Classic and go back to a classic one. Saying that read somewhere it was a lot of passenger airbags.

Hmm, I've got a later model wheel from a widetrack in my '03. Trying to get that airbag changed out I suspect is likely to be impossible.

Fairly sure it’s only the passenger airbags that are affected so that shouldn’t be a worry.

Does anybody know if there’s any markings on the replacements to indicate it’s safe? I bought a spare a while ago for the cover and it’d be good to know if it’s a safe one so I could see if anybody needs the airbag itself. Don’t want to be passing along a dodgy one.

This recall only relates to the passenger-side front airbag inflator in certain Subaru vehicles and does not affect our driver-side front airbags, which were not equipped with a Takata inflator. Therefore, if your vehicle requires this recall repair, we recommend that occupants not use the front-passenger seat until the repair has been performed.

One of many from 2017/18 covering the various models
