Who are doing the best deals on Sti 7's? Could I expect discount from a main dealer, or should I get a Euro import? I want the cheapest new one possible, but don't have the time available to order one from Europe. Please help.

Just contact all of the dealers (including Motorpoint etc) and play them off against each other. They all want to sell you a car so someone will give you a good deal.

Try Car Imports Direct in Bristol. Had to wait one week for mine, £22k, but you will have to put on your own Cat one/tracker.

I would be interested to hear where you get to ?

In the meantime, Virgin Cars have a couple of cars for 5 week delivery at 23K

Litchfield should also have one in stock at 23.5K (includes Tracker and Cat 1)

Regards,
Scooby Spy

Are you after a new one or used? There are quite a few ex demonstrators around at the dealers, still want silly money though - I saw one with 6500 miles and they were nice enough to give £500 off - 26,995!

I'm in a similar position so I would be interested to see how you get on - how about a group buy as I am sure there are a few of us in this position !

Cheers

Cool

Looks like Motorpoint are due about five in August sometime - £21K

Although I do like your group buy idea - I'm in the same situation myself - hunting around for the best option.

Question

vfg - not meaning to be too nosey but how good a deal is a v. good deal?

I'd rather go with a non-import from the warranty and less hassle perspective if I can find the right deal.

I recently bought a UK Prodrive STi7 from a UK dealer and managed to get 1k off; it was very hard work though and I was a cash purchaser (nothing to part ex) wanting to collect the stock car in three days time. That was 3 months ago and dealer has since closed.

Hope that helps!

So as a cash purchaser £1000 discount is not unreasonable - cool!

Any tips on negotiating - I'm crap at it

Cheers

Richard

It was very hard work as I say - I think I may have been lucky in that I ended up in the situation of having found two dealers with cars in stock (plut the money burning a hole in my bank account), and was able to play them off against each other. The one that lost out on my business told me that there was no way I'd even get 500 pounds off an STi. I wouldn't rate my chances of getting it again....I think I was lucky really.

Good luck.

Good luck

I bought an STi7 last month from Lancaster in Pangbourne. We did an open book deal where I was told the margin in the car equates to £1400. I looked at structuring the deal three ways but chose the final option as I was buying the car on a PCP plan.
1. £1k worth of options thrown in at list price
2. £1k discount off list price
3. discount the APR and increase the guaranteed final vale (GFV)

By taking into account the reduced cost of money (ie the interest charge) and the increased GFV, I saved around £3k on the overall three year cost of ownership. In the end they included clear indicator lenses, mats and really nice STi branded alloy sill protectors which cames to a total of around £350.

I tried getting them to include the cost of the first service and give me 10% off any future servicing , but it was a no go.

I suppose I was lucky to an extent because they had bought the car for another customer who had subsequently pulled out and the garage therefore had to sell the car ASAP to release the capital. What you could do is get a mate to go in and order the car (and agree the deposit is refundable) at the last minute he pulls out of the deal and you go in a day or so later to enquire about buying an STi!

You should be in a good position to cut a creative deal because we are coming up to quarter end and all salesmen (me included) are willing to do a special deal to get revenue in and hit targets.

The car is amazing hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Phil

Good luck M8

When you look at the price of the imports then add the cost of a decent alarm and tracker plus additional warranty plus the residual will be higher come sell time. it all starts to get a bit fuzzy.

IMO buying from a dealer seems to be the better option.

towzer, if you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying a month and what is the guaranteed final value ?
