Potential Owner 2004 Impreza WRX
Hi
Brand new to a Subaru - always wanted one though. I'm going to look at this tomorrow,
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201803194719670?advertising-location=at_cars&make=SUBARU&sort=price-desc&price-to=7000&radius=1500&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=N early%20New&onesearchad=New&model=IMPREZA&postcode =ky127ps&page=4
The garage have stated that it comes with 12 months MOT and that they will repair the front bumper because it's covered in stone chips. I'm not so sure I'm fussy about them doing that because I think the car needs a full re-spray anyway (viewed it last Saturday because I was passing the garage and it's covered in marks) - and I'd be quite happy to save up some cash and get that done properly. Also, I'm not really sure I can be bothered with the hassle of a dealer doing half a job and claiming they've done the full works. I think the car needs tyres too because it has been sitting on their forecourt for around 2.5months and they were very flat when I viewed the car last week - so I'm a bit concerned that they'll be flat spotted now, plus the alloys may have started to dig in internally. The garage have assured me of service history inc. timing belt etc...by the sounds of it it's been well looked after.
Windscreen price is £6500, I was hoping to get it for less if I'm honest, my budget is probably £6k max.
Cheers,
Jordan

not trying to sound harsh but if your willing to pay £6k for a base spec wrx that needs a full respray and new tyres then you must be willing to have your head opened up and inspected..............
thats a 3k car.
save another 1.5-2k and have a nice sti thats been looked after.

Ha...fair enough. I didnt mean it to sound like i was wanting to pay £6000 for it but thats my budget. I’m wanting to pay as little as possible for it. It has been there for a couple of months (plus) so i’m hoping they’ll take what i offer. I’m not really sure what to offer though.
if you are set on a wrx then a mint example could be had for around £4.5k.

I bought my UK300 PPP for 4200 in 2012 it needed new brakes / suspension but was otherwise a clean 80k car. I have since spent 6k to make it go better than a Std Sti , so that's not a good long term strategy but I only had 5k at the time in my pocket. So I would say if you like the look of the car and can't wait to save for a better spec one. Then look for a nice clean one , As all these "Newage" cars are now >13 years old and therefore leap of faith mechanically you will be tinkering with them anyway.

it is a very clean and genuine example with the ppp package left alone comes with certificate all modifications have been carried out by myself which help improve the handling, brakes, and the flat four rumble it’s a daily and is very reliable as my brother uses it for work and back so it’s not sat doing 800miles a year as m8ne does.

paperwork is always nice, but it's not as nice as KNOWING that it has been well cared for from an enthusiast who is known to numerous other enthusiasts..and perhaps hundreds of posts on forums etc...Buying from a stealer isn't worth the £1000+ premium in my view.
