Which gearbox?
After 3rd gear going in my 97 sti ra I've been on an exhaustive search for a replacement gearbox.
I now have found two that are compatible but undecided on which to go for? Both are low mileage and around the same price, one is the exact same box as is in my car TY752VB5CA and the other is a TY754VB1CA.
Both have DCCD and both use the same rear diff...
The car is running around the 360/360 mark, am I right in saying the TY754 is a stronger box and There for be the better choice?
Thanks in advance

Go with the later box. You'll have to tap the box for a bolt for the, lower from memory, starter motor mount though.
I killed a couple of early boxes, one in about 5 months which was a freshly rebuilt one. The TY754 box thats in now has been in just over 9 years now. Only problem I've had with it was the center diff **** itself, the gearset was fine though.

Cheers for the reply, the ratios are exactly the same in both boxes so I'd imagine that they're the same gearsets?
Am I right in saying that it's the casing on the ty754 was stronger and didn't flex as much as the earlier case's?

That's my understanding of it regarding the casings. Just because they are the same ratio's, doesn't mean they're the same gearsets.
