H4 LED Headlights

LOL, there's one BIG problem, they are crap.
The car's headlights are rubbish to start with, scattering light everywhere, so add in a b@stard contraption like an H4 HID bulb and you have the recipe for disaster.
Basically, the problem is that the accurate positioning of a bulb's filaments is vital in controlling where light will be put on the road, and the amount of scatter. You've only to fit a bulb SLIGHTLY wonky, or use cheap Chinese copy bulbs, to see that this is true.
So we come to the H4 HID, which can have ONE filament almost perfectly positioned, but not both. So you get either gret main beam and utterly rubbish dip, or vice versa. In fact, they go for OK-ish in both, but the scatter is awful.
And why do I say that one filament is ALMOST perfectly positioned? Because the shape of the HID bulb's arc is vastly different to the shape of an H4 bulb, it's even in the wrong orientation.
So my advice is steer clear. Go for uprated bulbs to see by.

Wait guys I think he was on about the LED bulbs and not HIDs which has been a massive no since as far back as I can remember with the classics . I didn't realise they did them but know you can get them in sidelights

I have used them in the sidelights but lets be honest the original lights on a classic are terrible. I remember someone mentioning on here to get better bulbs as a possible solution.

much cheaper than the LED ones I was looking at they were nearer £60. the LED were very bright but if the light pattern is no good then they wouldn't be any good.

What did you mean by the sidelights, got LED ones but they came with the car so haven't really noticed. Can't remember what my previous classic side lights were like in comparison because it was so long ago.

Besides, what someone thinks is decent might not be the same as your thinking. Also, comparison pics are only of any real use if the car is parked in one place and the bulbs are swapped in situ, which no one ever does.
I've tried all sorts of "uprated" bulbs over the last 12 years or so that I've had my car, Halfords super brilliance or whatever they were called, HID's, 100w Phillips Rally, currently using some PIAA bulbs.
Pay the money and try stuff yourself, only then will you know what works for you and your eyesight.

My car has bulbs already and don't need to change them, its a weekend car and is mainly driven in the city. Well thats all it does really lol or gets parked up if something breaks.
Now in this topic there were quite a few different options posted by myself and other members. It would be good if people did a before and after which can be done in a drive away or dark road because it only takes a few minutes to swap the bulbs over. There were some pics of someone who had changed their bubls/lights and you could see the difference very clearly. Technology changes so if other people saw this topic and decided to try out one of the bulbs because they feel their classic lights are no good then they might put up some pics so we can all see the comparisons and make an informed decision. It assists other people and thats what a forum is about.
If you also have a look at the link I posted where one member has modified their lights again you can see how much of an improvement the mod was. Like you said you have tried many bulbs so in your opinion are there any preferences and do you care to share your experience.
I know lol he kicks off with you about the mirrors and now starts on me about the bulbs what next screen wash

Ok here we go, i currently have some cheap Chinese bulb H4's fitted, but thought i'd try these, if you look at the pictures there does seem to be a slightly better light. Not massively different than the cheap Chinese ones but improvement.
Drivers side is Philips bulb passengers side is Chinese bulb
Next i will be trying the Phillips Racing 150%
