Default New here and pondering a Type R - HELP!!

Evening all

Hope everyone is well.

New to the Forum, so HELLO!!

I am after a little help. I have owned a Scooby before (Legacy BH5 GTB) and now I have my eyes on a V5 Type R Impreza.

I have been to look at one, and it has been remaped by Powerplay in Gloucester. I understand they are no longer trading. A question I would ask is if anyone has had experience with them?

The car I am looking at is T688YAB, in cool grey metallic. It has done 54K.

If I am honest, I am worried about it going bang. What are your expereinces of this?

Apologies for all the questions in my first post, but I am trying to make my mind up and fast!

Thanks in advance

Thank you

Honestly.. I don't know why I am so worried. I just am. I know that the Legacy I had was notorious for it, and I just read horror stories.

Am I being paranoid?

If you are happy with the car then buy it and get it checked on an RR or get it mapped by someone your happy with. Take the cost of the RR or remap into consideration when your buying. Like you said, it's a 19 year old car!

It's a piece of string sinario on a classic engine of that age, but on the plus side it's not done 100+k so better chance of being better.
Me personally I'm not that confident on classic engines stock, but that because I don't want it stock lol. So a cheap option and more reliable would be to fit a newage sti block (circa £800-1k) to it if and when it does ever happen or go forged. But chances are it could be ok unless you want to start modding for more power which most of us do.
And as it happens I have a grey v5 type r also and I'm not too far from holmfirth lol

The MOT history gives the mileage as 76k. It also had a few advisories that would need looking at too.
Check with the seller to ensure the MOT history and mileages match up.
If not - why not?

I am taking my trusted mechanic to look at it next week. The MOT advisories will be addressed with him when we are there.

As for the mileage, it is a mixture of KM and miles.

Bustamoves.. Where you from mate?

Mine will be available for purchase soon, its had a £10k rebuild, engine will easily support 500bhp.

Its currently running 360bhp and its very quick indeed.

I have also owned a few Legacies over the years, BG5 TT's and recently a BP5 Twin Scroll, which did actually go bang! Rod straight out the side of the block!

If you want to know more about my car PM me.

But the invoice I have shows £10k's worth of work.
