Default Type R Journey

So, tomorrow I am going to pick up my Type R from Engine Tuner in Plymouth.

You may or may not be aware of the issues I had with the purchase of the car. See my previous thread if you like.

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...xperience.html

Basically the car had issues, engine and gearbox and various other problems, however, the body and interior are in excellent condition.

So I had a lengthy discussion with Martyn @ ET and in the end he went ahead and fitted a 2.1 stroker and replacement gearbox, AlcaTek ECU and a few other bits and pieces.

Currently running an 18G turbo and ARC TMIC that was on the car when I purchased it, dynoed today at 361bhp.

Future plans are better turbo, FMIC and six speed conversion.

Will post some pics up within the next few days. And keep you all updated when things progress.

Cheers,

DoZZa

Made the trip down to Engine Tuner to collect the car this morning.

So very happy with the car. Really is very different to when it went in!

Martyn and his team have done an excellent job and provided updates all the way throughout the process. Excellent customer service.

I can say that I am glad that I chose to go ahead with the work on this car. Part of me just wanted to set fire to it after I first got it home. But now its my baby!

Only thing is, the exhaust is FAR to LOUD!!! I thought it wasn't that bad as I do have pretty bad hearing. But I have driven the car around a little bit today and already had complaints! So as much as I like it, it has to go as I do leave work late some nights and dont really want to upset anyone!

So the car needs a new exhaust system. Looking for a good turbo back 3 inch system. Anyone have any ideas what would be a good exhaust bearing in mind my future plans of bigger and better turbo, FMIC etc?

I dont do track days so it wont need to be compliant with any regs required for track use. Just needs to be a little more not so in your face ridiculously LOUD!

Current system is 3 inch from the turbo back with a Kakimoto silencer, or in this case, not so silent!

Depending on the weather tomorrow, I will give the car a thorough clean and hopefully take some pictures to share with you guys.

Cheers

Great news.
Hayward and Scott and milltek seem the favourites for sutle noise. But get full 3" if later upping power.

Do Milltek do anything for the classic? All I can seem to find is systems for newage.

Not sure, but if they don't, the newage will fit if using full system, just the back box will not need the 3rd hanger.

Or do like me, I've fitted a Hayward and Scott newage open bell mouth down pipe, custom made center section and milltek rear, all 3" as with milltek you can't mix n match other exhaust pieces

Little does he know, I had a race against him on the way out of Plymouth yesterday and it was reaaaaalllllyyyyyyy slow.....

Combo van 1 scooby 0.....

The thing is I was really slow too I just picked the right lane to use coming out of the junction a decent got through the lights first

I want be at smeatharpe this month I'm having some more tweaks to the car and saving the gearbox for spitfire to be the first car to run a 10 there.

I'm surprised that 700 bhp gtr didn't manage a 10 second run at the last spittfire event.

Was it snot green?

Don't rate the gtr on drag strips tbh. I've never been beaten by one even in the wet with its fancy launch and traction control

No denying that. Just saying their times aren't really that fast becaus3 of the weight.

Low 11s at pod with 700hp. I'm doing low 11s with less power in the wet. Not really exciting stuff is it.....

And i seriously doubt Martyn has to try and beat anything lol. Unless the white gtr is north of 1000hp it wouldn't even get close....

Yeah they are a lump the White gtr is 800bhp a ran a 10.8 in the damp last month up smearthrope I know it's a lot of power but pretty good on smearthrope Tarmac lol.

Go smearthrope a lot only up the road from me been waiting 2 years to see Martin back up there competing, think he blew 2 gearboxes last time.

Just like I said then really. Doesn't really bother Martyn considering his car is a 9sec car...

Pretty sure it was black. It was still the fastest car of the day though.

Still not had a chance to give the car a proper clean. Looks like the weather is going to be OK this weekend, so fingers crossed!

Still trying to find a good exhaust for the car!
