Figures a little low after remap - advice please!
hi guys
i have a version 4 sti that i recently got remapped
it has alcatec ecu with turbo back exhaust - fuel pump and correct plugs and induction kit - basic mods
left it to my tuner who i have used many times and is top class
its a very hard rollin road to make good power but it made 297 bhp
on the same rollin road i had a version 5 type r make 330bhp with same mods only it had standard airbox and a power fc ecu
he said he cant get anymore out of it but its healthy engine - he said something is holding it back
the version 5 had slightly bigger turbo i think from mayby version 6 im not sure
would it be worth gettin slightly bigger turbo from later model?
i dont want a laggy turbo and would be happy with 330bhp again as im not after big power? is it worth changing top mount or is there much difference is them? dont really want front mount
any tips would be great

The air temp, engine mileage, fuel, strapping, the CAIK, fuel pump delivery etc the list goes on, are reasons why you have different figures.
There is little difference between a VF29 and 30 with most maxing out at about 330 anyway. Perhaps an STI or WRX Newage intercooler would help a little. The STi and Type R's also have different gear ratio's.
Do you mean a decat turbo back? Did the V4 and 5 have different injectors
A look at the map may give us a bit more info.

as i said the engine is healthy - quiet , no smoke etc
gear ratios are nothing to do with my bhp figures
yes course they are decatted
for some reason i think my type r had a vf35 but cant be sure

Could be any number of things, worn turbo, differences in the engines, are the heads the same, is the exhaust the same, etc etc
v4 and v5 heads are different arn't they? so expect that's the answer.

Please explain more? "Its a very hard rolling road to make good power" - why? Could condition of the rolling road, calibration or calculation settings be out?

My sons V4 sti made a little over 295 bhp with an esl ecu upgrade and map to Vpower.Car is standard with all cats in place.Limiting factor was purely down to the turbo running out of puff.VF24 if i remember right.

My bug has seen a 40bhp difference on rolling road shootouts. Both done at Scoobyclinic, operated by the same guy but a 10 degree ambient temperature difference.
