Default Classic 'graunchy noise' - advice?

I have a graunchy noise from the front nearside on my 00MY Impreza turbo. Took the car in before I took the car off the road for winter and the (Subaru) garage said they thought it was the disc backing plate catching as it was badly rusted. Seemed ok at the time but just taken off SORN again and its graunching on right lock only more than half a turn I would say.

Any ideas ?

The garage had replaced all the front bushes with SuperPros a month before the first spate of graunchery !
