Does anyone know how to remove the silver Subaru letters on the back of the boot lid on a UK car without causing damage???

Jake,
Use a hairdryer to warm up the letters and use your finger nails to pull them off. They will come off easy . Then give the panel a bit of a polish to take off the excess sticky stuff, if any is left on after taking off the letters. Don't get to carried away with the hairdryer cause you may heat up the paint. The other alternative is to wait for a warm sunny day. Face the rear of the car towards the sun. When the panel warms up use the same procedure but without the hairdryer.

I seem to remember that some people have removed stickers using a hairdryer to melt the glue. Don't know if this will work with the 'Subaru' letters, but I guess they must be held on by some form of adhesive?

I was wondering the same thing about the WRX sign on the back of my MY01 Sport wagon. I like it discrete, and don't really feel like being provoked into a race (My clutch wouldn't last long ) by every boy-racer or bloke that stops at the red sign just after me... Same procedure ?
Since I'm in Portugal, I could use the SUn technology, right ? :-))

Done it to all 3 of my scoobies.
Piece of pi55.
Either be brave and use screw driver ( this can be done without the edge ever touching the paint )
or
Use finger nails and break every one in the process.
Both methods work.
All the best
