They're all quite similar really. K+N, Pipercross, Cosworth, Green...etc. You can't go too far wrong. I'm running a non-branded panel filter in my 360bhp+ blob (standard airbox) and have been for some time. Works a treat

I chose the cosworth blue type panel filter as to the oiled k&n one and have also used the hks panel filter in the past which was good as well but find the pipercross ones are sh!te

most uprated panel filters are the same performance wise , only downside with the k and n is the oil or shall i say too much oil , some tuner did a test on them it was a while ago , the best performing one was the standard subaru sti one by about 1 bhp ?? , but in the long run as they can be washed and kept cleaner it should work out better having an uprated one and cheaper

David 26, I have a redundant Pro-R dry foam panel filter. I tried it a few times, maybe for 50 miles tops, but I just don't like it. To me the car drives better (STi Spec D - forged / mapped) with the standard oiled paper Subaru one. If you're ever in the Hampshire area...Aldershot, by all means you can take it away with you and give it a try. It's hardly been used and would fit your blob no probs.

In wing induction kits are more effective and sound awesome, the normal under bonnet ones take in hot air so not efficient both would need a map/tweek the panel filter option is very effective and not as costly everybody has there own opinions and make choices to suit

the under bonnet ones as stated above would probably need a remap , not that i don't like making noise but the under bonnet one never stopped , the wing one not heard of that , i know you can remove the resonator ? box from the wing and it breathes better plus more induction noise , the only thing to be aware of is the intake location you don't want to be sucking in a load of water and kill the engine which with the lower intake pipe is the higher the risk , my opinion the panel filter replacement is easiest way forward and cheapest

I have one of these in my blob. They're a service item so not a permanent fixture like a K&N but so far I'm pleased and it's much better than the previous (2 year old and filthy) chinese job that was in there.
I did a youtube vid comparing the Cosworth filter against a cheap chinese 3 quid job, it's on there if you do a search. The differences are obvious.

I have an APS in Wing Cold Air Induction Kit on my MY00 GC8, and when you put your foot down you can hear it sucking in small children and furry animals, but you do need to get it mapped in.
