Getting my Import registered what a farce.

Getting my Import registered what a farce.
So Im trying to get my hawk STI that I brought back from Australia Registered. What an absolute nightmare its turning out to be.
So far everyone involved in the process has f*cked their bit up.
The Importer sat on the paperwork for 3 weeks. HMRC are supposed to be notified within 14 days otherwise fines are issued.
MOT tester wrote the wrong VIN number down.
Have no official Log book (Australia dont do them as its all online). So I have to prove its age for tax purposes. A photo of a plate similar to the VIN plate with the build date on isn't good enough I have to take a rubbing of it too.
HMRC finally process the car and send me back the required NOVA letter. Except they've missed one digit out on the VIN number.
DVLA are the worst. Instead of just seeing the VIN number has been mis-typed on the NOVA (there's plenty of other paperwork with the correct VIN number on) and speaking to HMRC to clarify they've just rejected the application and sent it back to me.
So now I have to wait for the paperwork to arrive. Literally put it in a new envelope and send it back.
All those f*ckwits had to do was pick up the phone and speak to HMRC. It was literally 30 seconds for me to sort.
Now I have to wait atleast another month before I can even think about starting to look for work.
Seriously, if they kept their regional offices open I could have sorted this whole within a couple of days not a couple of months.

It's a joke isn't it? There was a local DVLA office to me where I went to sort out my personalised plate on my Subaru, now that's gone its all online which can be a right faff for some people. I take it you will be stung for import duty or something equivalent for bringing your own car over?

Yeah DVLA are a right pain in the 4rse...!! I had a similar issue on a jap import and when the chassis number had a - on it and the nova records did it without so they sent back the application. A simple call to NOVA and they updated it straight away.
Goodluck. I'm sure its worth the wait tho

Welcome to Bull$hit Britain....where...the government representatives will shaft you at every single given opportunity, and then fine you for being a law abiding citizen...and for something that wasn't your fault.
Ref the DVLA it all depends who you get on the day, who opens the paperwork, who answers the phone call, it's pot luck.
Either you'll get a helpful person with a brain, or a jobsworth...simple as that.

I know how you feel; even without mistakes it`s a slow process. It`s compounded by really looking forward to something that is worth it, like when we were kids, waiting for birthdays or xmas. At least it gives time for all those redbacks to die off, that are hiding in there!

I am just having similar experience with DVLA.
Rung them up to check the exact amount of tax and fee to put on a check and guess what...
The lady on the phone gave me total figure of £181.50.
Today I received a rejection letter becouse I didnt send the right payment.
The letter asked to resend everything with payment of £184.25
