Default Power steering jerky

My 05 bug eyes steering has recently started becoming jerky when I first start her up , after turning full lock each way it disappears and will continue to work fine until the car is turned off and let to go cold.

Any ideas on what to try?

if the belt/fluid level is ok and not old

it could be air in the system, dirt, or a worn pump are my guesses

Belt needs changing or adjusting check your power steering level by taking the air snorkel off first so you can see proper but the alternator belt drives the power steering pump aswell so give it a good check over not a big job of you don't snap the adjusting pulley located near the a/c pump be careful or get a competent garage to check it out for you all the best
