Default P1

After owning my P1 for only afew months , noticed a struggle of starting and a lose in power . After having a Leak down test done came back the news i was dreading Cylinder 2 was only at 35psi , So after alot of researching i settled on dropping it off enginetuner 260 miles away for a fully forged 2.1 stroker build also thought why not throw in a toucan

Cant wait to get it back

Bad news about the car.
I'm sure the EngineTuner 2.1 build will be of some comfort

Seriously, it's the controller/sensor monitor for the Alcatek ECU. (It's analogous to the Commander for the A'PEXi ECU).

Not nice when you buy a new car. But personally I wouldn't buy a P1 unless it had an engine rebuild done, they seem to fail a lot. Can't see it being the engine itself at fault.

I was wondering if it's because they most likely only get used as a weekend car. So get thrashed alot, including track days etc.

Sure there many a thread about this. I might be wrong but was it not the factory map that causes the issues?

Wasn't the P1 tuning an STi 5 map but they had a broquet in the fuel tank in an attempt to sort the Ron difference between Jap and UK fuel!

AFAIK the P1 came with stock STI Type R ecu so mapped for Jap fuel. Prodrive added some fuel broquets into the tank to combat the difference in Ron. The broquets break down over time, hence the issues.

Exactly the same as any JDM sti import - nothing worse (or better!). Get it remapped by engine tuner for U.K. fuel or run octane booster until then.
