Yes, i'm worried !!!

Well, just got my MY01 yesterday, and haven't noticed it yet... Anyway, I'm breaking it in by the book, and therefore wouln't notice it anyway, unless it was really obvious.

So, I was wondering: When did you first notice the problem ? When did you replace the clutch ? I'm worried because here in portugal Subaru doesn't sell waranty extensions, and warranty is only 1 year. If it starts hapening late, I might have to pay for that myself.

This seems to be the only real recurring problem is Impreza's.

If it happens, won't it wear out the clutch way too fast ?

Thanks for your help...

Rui

Rui, congrats on getting the car. if you need someone to keep you awake as you do those first 1500km in 24hours (who was it did that on this board?), then I may be able to find some time...

Clutch judder on my MY97 was irritating and pretty obvious, but I didn't have it from new so don't know when it started. It was only on a cold engine, the first few changes, after that wasn't noticable. I don't know if it helps that the clutch is under load: I was pulling up a steep hill to begin with when I had mine. The other thing is, I don't know if it's expected on the MY01 anyway. Haven't they designed it out now?

Wouldn't be off around Coimbra (TAP Rally course) at the weekend admiring the scenery would you?

Hi Branden ... Thanks for the offer.

No, I won't be getting to Coimbra for a while, and defenatly not before those crytical first 1500km... Can you guess why ? .

Yes, I was wondering the same thing... I might start a thread on the clutch judder on the MY01, to see if anybody jumps in with a definite yes or no...

Appart from that, it's an amazing car... Very quiet, very smooth, very cool looking...

Yesterday, I was walking back from lunch, and when I was passing by it, there were 3 people looking back, talking about it, and pointing to it... I just couldn't control the grin on my face. I treid, really, but anybody looking at me would have thought I was some kind of weirdo .

But, I already have a huge problem with it... Keeping it under 4000 rpm. It just keeps asking for more. Until now, I've been over (at 4500) once, but it's getting harder and harder the more I get used to it... Great fun :-)

By the way, did you follow my advice and go to Moscavide to Entreposto, to try one out ?

Cheers

Max

...saying "Holy smoke, who on earth would bring such an ugly car into our beautiful country??"

Haven't been to try one yet, partly as I'm up to my eyes trying to keep the job in order to (possibly) pay for one later, and partly as I have never driven in Lisbon so am hesitant about starting. Suppose their car is better than mine for that!

I'm working by Sta Apolonia and living by the Parliament; where are you? See if I can also gather round your car and point at it!!

Well, I work in Carnaxide (By the highway to Cascais), and live south of the river... Not much luck there :-)

Just went for a ride (Ok, I had to go to the bank and post-office), but of course I didn't come directly back to work... Went for a ride up to Monsanto, and then back... I just love this car :-))

And it turns so many heads on the street... Boy, I can't imagine what it would have been like if I had bought the 4 door... I bought the Sport Wagon because it's descrete, and still it attracts a lot of attention... Well, it will feel good for a while, and then I'll stop noticing.

Another problem is that here people tend to be agressive on the roads (Had a guy in a 1.6 Escort pass me on the outside of a roundabout yesterday, trying to provoque me), but I'm still running it in... Can't push it yet ...

I can understand your hesitation about driving here... My mother never drives here, since she learned to drive in Luxembourg, and they are so disciplinate and educated that driving there is a pleasure. She gets here and never touches a car... My filosofy ? When in rome, do like the romans ... And I don't bother thinking that they all drive like car theives ! I just "do my thing", and it seems to be working.

Cheers

Rui
