Gear Lever

Hi,
I have a 1997 (MY97?) imreza, UK spec, and it has a disgusting rubbery bit round the gear leaver, that is awful The plastic *** isnt much better either.
Are there any easy to fit but quite cheap leather alternatives to the rubbery bit? Its **** a plenty in halfords, but they are like £30 a go. Want something a bit chaeper if possible.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for... I doubt Nito is cheaper than Halfords ( ), but if you want to improve things have a look at

I know they seem expensive but I bought a Momo Race Air Leather for my MY98 and it does make a difference. Apart from losing about 1/2" from the shift the feel is MUCH better - and it looks cool.
You definitely get what you pay for but I highly recommend it!

I have a similar Momo that has been with me on a few cars now. I'd thought only at the weekend about putting it on my MY 00, but can you advise if there is a wy of attaching the gaiter?
Cheers

Short answer - no
I believe that you can buy an adapter (from Graham Goode if my memory serves me right) or you could try attaching a small amount of self-adhesive velcro around the gear lever and top of the leather gaiter (not easy, but it worked on mine for while).
Or do what I did eventually and ditch the Momo and get one of Nito's that look far better, cost less and include the sleeve to allow you to attach the leather gaiter.
Cheers
