Default Can anyone advise me on a car I'm looking at?

Is anyone with good knowledge of UK 2000 turbos able to advise me on the value of a car I'm looking at through PM?

Looking at buying my first Scooby so not as clued up on them as I'm sure plenty others here are.

Cheers!

Why through PM? Why the secrecy? You may get a better response if you post the car you are interested in.

I don't want to upset anyone incase the owner is on here. Not seen it advertised, but still. PM's are there for a reason.

Easier to just post a link, can see the pics too:

*been told it has td04 turbo from newer hawkeye and yellow injectors

You'll see why as a first time Subaru buyer I need a little hand on the value. I've always been an e36 BMW guy.

Don't think its worth 3k. When its says new engine does it mean brand new engine or used?

As far as I was aware it was brand new and has done 50k miles. Said he'd take 2.5 for it if that's fair?

The only thing that would bother me is rust as add says (The back arches could be doing with attention at the usual scooby spots - not terrible and doesn't bother me but if your picky the body work could do with a tidy up)

To get the rust cut out both sides and sorted is about £150 aside, and that most likely won't have fully sorted it out, may come back in future, depends where rust is coming from, either from the lip of the arch or internal.

Yeah that's a concern. But I have 2500 to spend on one.

Struggling to find one I like that's had some nice mods done for that price that doesn't have some rust on it.

Yea it's not easy, someone on here has just bought bargain estate version for £350. I'd just make sure it was a new engine, would have cost loads for new engine.

Not taxed? strange, by the looks of things it's been used recently

Either the DVLA computer isn't up-to-date (quite possible) or the seller is a naughty boy (equally possible!)

That's not important as you can't transfer tax anyway.

I know, but it does give you some indication of the care the car has been under...

Would anyone know how much it costs to have the rear arch repaired if there is a hole rot through it? One just has surface bubbling, the other is rot through, size of a 20p.

I bet theres rot in the inner wings too. Check where the rear sub frame meets the body and inside and out of the boot where the jack is stored. Check behind rear bumper rusty mounts etc. Side skirts are also a water trap, check sills for rot. Over priced imo.

Said he'd take £2300 to compensate for the arches. Will check on the rest.
