New guy P1
Hey,
Never owned a scoob as of yet but always dreamed of having a p1, all time favourite car, now I'm old enough to insure one and buy one I cant find one I'm 100% on. I'm moving house in 3 weeks with a lovely big garage and want/NEED a P1 in my life Ive managed to find one that has had a new engine bought from a brokers yard that's been rebuilt and forged with receipts but not sure what to think. Id rather find a genuine example or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Any advise would be great

It was built by eclipse performance and its got Vtune underneath the logo, my mate has done work for vtune he said to stay well clear cause they dodgy as F. He's got receipts but eventually when I do come to sell it on years down the line as its not the original engine with the car am I going to have a nightmare? So many questions!
Just don't feel like I will ever find one
And its got to be p1, id go 22b but I'm not loaded lol

Eclipse were ****ing useless so that could be a bargaining tool. Buy it, if you plan on keeping it standard take that engine out, buy yourself a brand new ej207 short block and have that fitted and you've got yourself a very reliable car and I'm sure any future buyers will appreciate the ej207 as a contender for the best engine Subaru make.
Has it done 1 mile, 1 owner from new and lived under a air tight dust sheet? if so ill have it

Don't kid yourself there are a lot of P1's out there that will appear on the market if the prices stay healthy and high
what you'll get is the cars that are in need of repair that are all shiny and bright but are dying underneath, around the rear strut towrer's and arches
These cars will jump on the gravy train and ride the wave so be careful, not everything that shines is gold
It used to be engine woe's, now I'd say the chassis and structure is the most crucial element to check, get a straight car and you're away
