Default MPG Torque app

Just did a 40 mile round trip in an blob PPP sti with 330bhp, and the Torque app read 34mpg on average.. was mostly off boost with a couple boosting moments round the odd bellend but nothing more.

Car was tuned by FB tuning who claim a better off boost MPG but surely not 34?! Anyone else seen figures like this just cruising? I feel like the app is way off but curious to know if anyone else has seen the same

I wouldn't go by anything that app tells you other than what is actually read by a sensor.
It's all a bit off from one day to the next , when it's having to calculate.

I will set mine up at some stage and see how close it is to the trip computer

Doesn't the MPG read off a sensor from the ECU? I'll have to compare the two on a full tank and see what the Torque app gives me and what the trip says I guess

If you have a trip computer why aren't you going by what it says ?

I'm going through setting my app up at the min but i assumed it used the gps and how much fuel you say is in the tank and tank capacity etc but i may be wrong.

Because it just tells you how many miles you've done, not the MPG per trip.

The best way to calculate your mpg accurately is to brim the car, reset the odometer, brim it up again (preferably from the same pump) and calculate it manually.

The best I've managed in a Forester STi on a 200-mile motorway trip was 36mpg but I was driving like a grandma.

That is ultimately the best way yes, but thought the app would be accurate!

Lol 36 is pretty impressive. Was that sat at 70 the whole way?
