Default Brand new WRX is a Dud!!

Guys just spent my hard earned on a bugeye WRX. second day of owning the car it has developed a knock!!. Love the car, its a one owner low miles in the spec that i was looking for. I purchased it from a dealer miles away from where I live. I have no idea what to do or what my rights are. Any suggestions or advice for a very disapointed scoobynet member

Trouble is I live over 4.5hrs away from the trader I bought it off. I just want a bit of advice of where I stand and what my rights are?

Call the dealer and explain the situation. If you don't like their response then look further into your rights.

2nd day of ownership? Speak to the dealer first and see what they say. Doesn't matter if they are 8 hours away from you, unless you are happy spunking all that cash down the drain!

Or, they'll take it back from you to repair it. Stick a £500 ebay engine in it and hope it lasts you the 3 months their warranty covers.

Was thinking they may offer a replacement engine but I paid for a 46k car so anything other than a rebuild would effect the value of the car that I paid for

for any peace of mind needs to be done by a specialist who knows what their doing, which wont be cheap hence dealer wont want to do it. get yer money back and walk away if you can

they could get a rookie on the rebuild and cut corners etc. I think a refund would be your best offer. A bugeye on 46k is very low mileage what do the mot's say threw out the years?

did you pay cash or on a credit card?
You will be covered if you paid on CC, even if you only pay £100 on card and rest cash, the full amount is covered by your CC

Not fit for purpose, you can [by law] return for a full refund, or accept to have it repaired

It would be interesting to find out what caused the failure if it was an oil leak thats obviously the garages fault. you test drove it then drive it home 4 hours then in the morning it was knocking? Is there still oil in the car?

New laws state you have 30 days warranty on any car from a dealer regardless of if sold with a warranty or not.

My mum wanted a car that was 2 hour drive away, i went and picked it up for her and car sprung a water leak few days later, also notice other faults. They said we had to get the car back to them and they would fix faults, ended up paying £120 i think for a transporter to take the car to them.

yes agree with above, that is piston slap IMO. a lot of subarus do it when cold and it can also be heard even when hot on mine and on my friends old one when warm. not the end of the world. I always hear it on mine when I pull into the garage or when I pull away.

Ive heard so much scare mongering saying that its bottom end rod knock etc that I immediately thought the worst. So you guys think its no more than slap yeah? Phewwww!!! Is there anything that can be done to mask the noise? Its got standard exhaust system at the moment so id imagine when I fit the Racebox from scoobyworld that would help mask it a tad!. Anything else i can do? specific oil for example?

Hold the revs at 3.5-4K rpm....you'll hear it if it is knocking, that does sound like a light knock to me though

Do you think I'll have a problem returning as it was only an independent trader? Got a website and have been trading for 20 odd years. Can't belive that this has happened only a day after picking it up!!
