Bonnet struts , great bits of kit , they go higher than the bonnet stay but with that out the way anyway working in engine is easy

What are they like when closing the bonnet? I've always let the bonnet 'fall' under its own weight for the last few inches to lock it. I was told that forcing the catch with your hands can dint the bonnet especially the lightweight ally sti ones

I have them on mine. When closing the bonnet once you get to about 8-10 inches away from closing, the bonnet still falls with enough force/weight to close and latch properly

I was thinking same thing. Guessing WRX bonnets are aluminium as well, wondered about having 2 struts, as i know Vauxhalls only have one.

Doh, I see what you mean now. When I fitted them I sort of remember that it needed both to operate properly. It would look odd with just one IMHO though. Then again, I am OCD to a degree

I was kind of thinking if could do with just one strut, depends if the bonnet is strong enough so it won't twist? Will have to do some search for some.

I'm 99% sure you will. As Said above most OEM cars use only one side. And the alloy bonnets on our cars are much lighter. But then there must be two for a reason? The would have to be realy weak dampers for one side not to support mind you.

Newage ones are as standard. Its exactly the same as an sti bonnet with a smaller scoop bolted to it.

I no about the classic ally / steel combo .... Just Newage there is only one type I should have thought before typing as the fact all Newage are the same would indicate this
